Ahh.. Open for Business

November 27, 2008 by finalzfinale

Finally, after a long sojourn in the land of “O” Levels, I have finally come back. (Well, it was actually quite some time ago, but I was bogged down by several activities)

After Os analysis: Chem P2 was surprisingly easy, and the qns from Physics P2 were refreshingly new. Easy papers are not good, coz the moderation will push up the marks for A1. Most of the papers can be done; some were easy, some were tricky. But most importantly, IT’S FINALLY OVER!

Straight after the last paper was Grad Night. It was okay.

And after that, I was busy with St. John stuff. Went back to school for competition training and, seriously, our hopes of caa gold are dashed. When I have the time during the holidays, I shall refresh my First Aid knowledge so that I may better teach my cadets. So Joping, if you see this, it’s time to return me my FA manual.

21-24 Nov [Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course]
DARE TO LEAD!

This time- I, kenneth, rita and yingsuan- are attending as senior trainers (or old birds, as ah tan sir calls us). I am part of Combat in Bravo Platoon as Assistant Platoon Sergeant (APS), with Melissa mdm as Platoon Sergeant and Adam sir as Platoon Commander. This camp was quite fun, not because it’s my third time attending it, but because of the interaction with the officers, trainers, and trainees :) Saw some new and old faces in both trainers and officers.

The fun parts were the two operations: Op “Bai Kah” and Op “Tsunami”. Operation “Bai Kah” was the First Aid case that the trainees were supposed to do at night. What we saw was a bleak future- First Aid CMI. And Operation “Tsunami” was the clearing of items in the trainees bunks that were not standardised or kept neat and clean. The “Tsunami” was the three APSs (me, rita and chienwan).

It was good to be able to see the transition of the “future-leaders” in my platoon, from not-so-much-initiative to display-leadership-potential. I hope that my trainees will continue to improve themselves to become better leaders!

The aim of the course is to train future leaders in St. John to take charge of their respective corps. To a certain extent, the course has managed to succeed in achieving its aim. However, I feel that more can be done.

Anyway, from now till February, I have only this few activities:

  1. Zone Bowling Competition
  2. More competition training
  3. Look for a job
  4. Zone Presentation and Inspection
  5. 4E1 Class Chalet
  6. Collect results and chose school!

Funny Stuff

Some funny pictures I found on www.engrish.com about bad chinese to english translation.

This one is the funniest! Titan is a shipping company. They have a policy of naming their ships after planets, and putting the country of origin on the ship. So this particular ship reads: Titan Uranus Hong Kong. Read out loud for max effect :)

Sch’s Re-opening

June 22, 2008 by finalzfinale

Yesterday

Went to Joping’s house for a BBQ party with her friends and some of our family members. No comments about the BBQ (after all, we are kids and we like to have fun, don’t we?). Oh yeah, I saw Jessie the anti-social. She preferred talking to those older people, so she didn’t join us. Well, i’ll have to thank Jorene for all the info and insights she gave me about JC and University education. Yeah, and we chatted and laughed.

Some Random Stuff

Was going through my handphone pictures and found this. The “souvenir” that the officers from CCC08 gave to every participating sch. See that blank space to the left of the 2008? A campfire’s supposed to be there, but I took the picture before Shuxian mdm completed the thing.

Tidied up my bookshelves and filed *most* of my worksheets and notes. I printed those labels for the files myself. Call me anal-retentive, but I like it neat :)

Sch Re-opening

Yeah well, I’m half looking forward to sch re-opening, coz I can get to see her ;) And half not looking forward to it coz I didn’t complete all the Emaths hw. I mean seriously, who can?

SJAB Day’s on Tuesday. It’s the day in which we re-affirm our loyalty and committment to the Brigade and to its mottoes of “Pro Fide- For the Faith” and “Pro Utilitate Hominum- For the Service of Mankind”. It’ll be the last time I’m going to say it in this school :(

I think my Full Uniform is going to seriously stink coz I’m going for SYF training almost every day for the next week.

Updates :)

Well, what can I say? Back from another SJAB camp (current count: 5). Nth much to write abt on this camp, only that my job scope (as Division Commander) was a little unclear. But all we had to do was mingle around the Trainees and Trainers and guide them. Hope the sec 1s enjoyed themselves.

Went to AMK Hub today and had my first Subway meal. It was fantastic! If only we could find them as readily as McDonalds :(

Nth much to say again. Will be preparing for SYF..

SYF08 Parade Rehearsal

May 26, 2008 by finalzfinale

Well, I’ll be taking part in this year’s SYF Parade, together with Rita and Eereena. And it’ll be my first time being a Flag-Bearer. Woots! I’ve always wanted to become one. Well, the thing about the flag is that it’s quite heavy, and i haven’t really familiarize myself with the drill manoeuvres yet.

We trained at HQ NCC, at Amoy Quee Camp. And there were Army Sergeant Majors who came to train us. They weren’t the fierce kind of people that i had initially envisioned. Well, maybe because we were still “youths”.

One bad thing about being a Flag-Bearer is that it’s difficult to march and hentak properly. Coz you know, the holster is somewhere in the upper-middle part of the legs, so you know…

But still, it’s nice to be one :)
